Crain’s New York Business is a leading trade publication covering finance, health care and other related topics. Sodexo’s recent decision to offer Meatless Monday options to their hospital, school and corporate clients landed Monday Campaigns founder Sid Lerner in the Crain’s “Movers & Shakers” section, which profiles individuals who are introducing innovative concepts to their field.
In the interview, Mr. Lerner talks a bit about how and why Meatless Monday was started. He also shares that Meatless Monday’s primary goal is to ensure the availability of more healthy, plant based meals, not to eliminate other options. “As we go to schools and restaurants, our aim is not to take meat off of menus, but to give diners more choices. The thrust of our campaign is to get alternatives on the menu.”
Mr. Lerner also discusses upcoming plans for the other Monday Campaigns, including our newest initiative, The Kids Cook Monday! Through simple, preventative health campaigns that come with a built-in prompt to try again, Mr. Lerner’s dream of creating initiatives that “appeal to 300 million Americans” seems to be coming to fruition.
