Celebrity chef and Meatless Monday proponent Giada De Laurentiis, on tour to promote her new book Giada’s Feel Good Food, knows a thing or two about healthy living. She recently chatted with Women’s Health Magazine about how she’s replaced chocolate and sugar with better choices that boost her energy considerably each day. And she feels better than ever.
“When I was younger, I relied on chocolate and sugar to give me boosts throughout the day,” Laurentiis admitted.
Although sugars and fats may provide a brief burst of energy, in the long run they may drag you down. De Laurentiis said that a diet heavy on vegetables, protein, and whole grains has given her more vigor than the quick-fix candies she used to snack on ever could. Not only that, but swapping out sweets for foods with less sugar and more fiber can lead to a better perspective overall, she argues.
De Laurentiis puts her theory to the test with her new cookbook—and the results are delicious. She includes many recipes that you could cook for Meatless Monday both online and in her cookbook. Read the full article at Women’s Health Magazine.
