Tribeca’s Yummy Mummy

September 21st, 2009

mummy_180pxCate is a mother of two living in Tribeca, an area of New York City renowned for its strong artistic community and family-friendly atmosphere. She offers children’s cooking classes in her home, and so her kitchen is often full of excited, slightly messy preschoolers. This hands on work with kids inspired Cate to create Tribeca Yummy Mummy, a recipe blog that children and their nutrition-conscious parents will love.

Tribeca Yummy Mummy is inspired by Cate’s children, ages 2 and 4. Her mission is to provide meal ideas that "can be shared with the under-5 set, but are tasty enough to please a Big Person.’ The result is nutritious, fun recipes like Magic Purple Bean Salad and Brie and Balsamic Strawberry Sandwiches. Cate lets her children share in every aspect of the meal and encourages her readers to provide their "mini-chefs’ with hands-on knowledge about healthy eating by letting them help out in the kitchen.

We at Meatless Monday recommend Tribeca Yummy Mummy‘s recipes to all age groups. Meals composed of fresh produce, beans and grains can and should be enjoyed by everyone. We also agree with Cate’s philosophy of teaching by example. Show your kids the wonders of nutritious choices by letting them assist you while cooking. These simple lessons will help prepare your child for a lifelong positive relationship with food.
