Women’s Health Magazine is making it easier than ever to go Meatless Monday with their new meatless meals center! Now available as a free resource on WomensHealthMag.com, the center offers everything you need to start making healthier choices one week at a time. In this one stop shop, you can learn more about the health benefits of going meatless, get your questions answered with expert FAQ’s, discover some cooking tips from your favorite celebrities and get creative in the kitchen with interesting meatless meal swaps.
We spoke with Associate Online Editor K. Aleisha Fetters about the new resource. She explains why Women’s Health decided to offer the center, unveils some common meatless myths and shares her favorite veggie dish:
Why did Women’s Health decide to create a meatless center?
Women’s Health, Rodale, and our readers see the whole picture when it comes to health. The health of our bodies and the health of our planet are intimately linked, and we are constantly striving to improve both. Skipping meat, even if it’s just one day a week, is one of the easiest ways to do just that.
What was your role in putting together this project? How did you find all the great information in the center?
I served as the project’s editor. Women’s Health has fantastic advisors and experts, such Keri Glassman, RD, who were instrumental in providing honest insight and practical advice for women looking to green up their eating habits.
Women’s Health has been offering Meatless Monday recipe collections on site and using the #MeatlessMonday hastag on Twitter for some time now. Have readers responded positively to the movement?
Yes! Women’s Health readers have been wonderfully enthusiastic about our Meatless Monday blog and tweets. The campaign’s popularity made it obvious that they wanted–and needed–more resources when it came to going meatless. That’s where we saw the opportunity to fulfill the needs of our readers with this new center.
Who’s your primary audience for your meatless center?
The center has something for all of our fabulous readers, be they herbivores or omnivores!
There is a “Fact & Fiction” section for people who are thinking about trying more meatless meals. What are some common meatless myths you encounter?
The biggest myth is that no meat equals no flavor. Taste any of the fabulous meat-free recipes on Women’s Health or MeatlessMonday.com and you’ll realize that’s simply not true!
It’s great to see that the center has a Meatless Monday blog – what kind of topics will the blog discuss?
With recipes, cooking tips and more, the Women’s Health Meatless Monday blog offers up easy ways to make meatless eating fit everyone’s life, even if that involves meat the other six days of the week.
What first steps should readers take to ensure healthy meatless dishes at home?
At Women’s Health, we suggest not just replacing meat with carbohydrates. Instead, you should focus on infusing your dishes with nutrient-rich fruits and vegetables.
What’s your favorite meatless dish?
I simply adore the Women’s Health Black Sesame Tofu & Vegetable Stir-Fry. I first tried it while working on the meatless center, and am beyond hooked! It’s waistline-friendly, filling, and quick and easy to make. It’s beautiful and the perfect way to make dinner guests look like you can actually cook.
