Cranberry juice is infused with star anise, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg in this warming fall dessert. Pears are slow cooked in the spiced cranberry, which is later strained and glazed onto the pears as a sweet Autumn spiced sauce. This recipe comes to us from Kristi of Veggie Converter 365.
- 1 cup cranberry juice
- 2 star anise
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 whole cloves
- 1 whole nutmeg
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 Anjou pear
Place the cranberry juice, star anise, cinnamon stick, cloves, nutmeg ball, sugar and Pear in a medium sized saucepan and bring to a boil. When juice boils, turn heat down to low and simmer for about 40 minutes-1 hour.
Remove the pear and spiced cranberry juice from the heat and let stand it for 30 minutes.
Place the pears in separate bowls, strain their cooking liquid into a bowl. Spoon the pears cooking liquid over each pear and enjoy.
