A “classic” Philly Cheesesteak can be heart attack city. Eat only half and you still might get more than half your recommended daily fat intake. But this Philly Cheesefake is a true revolutionary hero. This recipe is from Elizabeth Fiend of BigTeaParty blog.
- 1 pound wheat gluten, sliced very thin
- 2 green peppers, sliced very thin
- 1 large onion, sliced very thin
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon sage
- 1 dash cayenne pepper
- Cooking spray
- 8 hard rolls
Preheat oven to 350. Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and stir gently to coat evenly. Turn out onto a large baking sheet coated with cooking spray. Bake for 15 minutes, stir, then bake for another 15 minutes. Serve on toasted hard rolls topped with soy cheese or American cheese.
