These nuts are best served hot and can be a welcome addition to salads, raviolis or alongside fresh fruit. Or wrap ‘em up and give all your friends a package of these spiced delights for the holidays. This recipe comes to us from Michele of It’s a Dog’s Life.
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 1/2 teaspoon allspice
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 3 egg whites
- 6 tablespoons whiskey
- 1 cup walnuts
- 1 cup pecans
- 1 cup almonds
Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Lightly grease a baking pan.
Whisk together sugar, flour, salt, cinnamon, allspice, ginger and nutmeg. Spread the sugar spice mixture on a baking sheet.
Beat together the egg white and whiskey. Coat nuts in egg mixture.
Drop nuts in the sugar spice mixture. Mix lightly to coat, taking care to keep nuts separated.
Place nuts on the greased baking pan and bake for 1.5 hours, or until solid and fragrant.
Remove nuts from oven, shaking off excess sugar. Store in an airtight container.
