This simple oatmeal breakfast begs for variation so try it with different combinations of dried fruits and nuts. Just remember to put it in the slow cooker the night before so you can wake up old fashioned a stick to your ribs day starter. This recipe comes to us from Toni of Toni’s Treehouse.
Serves 2
- 8 cups water
- 2 cups steel-cut oats
- 2/3 cup your favorite fruits and nuts
- a little sugar, to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Combine the water, oats, fruit, nuts, sugar and salt in a 5 or 6 quart slow cooker. Put the lid on and cook for about 7-8 hours, or until the oats are tender and creamy.
