The stations responsible for you favorite food programming have gone meatless! The Cooking Channel and the Food Network now offer Meatless Monday meal ideas to help their fans start the week with healthier choices. The Food Network’s “FN Dish” blog first joined the movement in June, calling Meatless Monday “an easy way to make strides towards better health while still enjoying delicious dishes”. Each week FN Dish offers a “quick and simple Meatless Monday menu so you can be part of the movement, too”. Recent recipes include Rachael Ray’s Cucumber and Tomato Salad, Bobby Flay’s Grilled Zucchini with Lemon-Herb Vinaigrette and Shaved Romano and the Food Network’s own Portabello Burgers with Onion Jam.
With the success of Meatless Mondays on FN Dish, the Cooking Channel has also decided to offer weekly recipes on their “Devour” blog. Like the Food Network, the Cooking Channel is going meatless for better health. “As food people, we want to do our part. We realize that diet-related disease can’t be cured in a day… but small steps do help. Starting Monday, we’ll be celebrating Meatless Monday right here, every Monday, by offering you a meat-free recipe idea.” The Cooking Channel also pledges to offer hearty, filling choices: “we don’t expect anyone to live on rabbit food, so we’ll introduce you to satisfying, real food – main and side dishes that are so amazing, you won’t miss the meat”. They’re off to a good start with Kelsey Nixon’s stunning Garden Vegetable Frittata!
By offering weekly menu ideas on their blogs, both the Food Network and the Cooking Channel are sharing the movement with millions of fans worldwide! Show your support by visiting FN Dish and the Cooking Channel online each week to see what’s on the menu.
